Sung-Dae Hong
Chief Executive Officer

Dae brings over twenty years of global strategy and general management experience to StatLab. Most recently, he served as President of Laboratory Products at Thermo Fisher Scientific where he oversaw a diversified global business with over twenty manufacturing sites serving life sciences and diagnostics. Prior to that, he held multiple Vice President and General Manager roles and began his tenure at Thermo Fisher as the Head of Corporate Strategy. Dae spent the first decade of his career as a management consultant at Bain & Company in Australia, Korea, and the U.S., where he led projects on growth strategy, M&A, and commercial due diligence.


Todd Baldanzi
Chief Financial Officer

Todd Baldanzi was appointed as CFO in 2021. Todd brings a track record of delivering strong financial results with close to 20 years spent within the McKesson Corporation. Most recently, he had been CFO of McKesson’s largest business unit, US Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions, with annual revenues in excess of $180 Billion. Prior to that role he served as CFO of a variety of other business units, including McKesson Medical Surgical and McKesson Canada. He is responsible for financial oversight of the business as well as leading the Finance, Legal, and IT teams.

 


John Vernasco
Senior Vice President, Sales

John Vernasco is the Senior Vice President of Sales for StatLab. He brings over 32 years of progressive commercial leadership experience in the clinical diagnostics market to the StatLab Corporate Leadership Team. Before joining StatLab, John was Vice President, Commercial Operations, Americas Region, for the Clinical Diagnostics Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Prior to that, he worked at Abbott Diagnostics in various commercial development, sales and marketing roles. His leadership will contribute to the growth of domestic and international business at StatLab through established and new channels. 

 


LeAnn Collins
Vice President, Human Resources

LeAnn Collins was appointed as Vice President of Human Resources in 2021. LeAnn has a track record of delivering a clear path for long-term organizational growth while building strong teams through training and development programs. Her experience spans across multiple industries including healthcare, and she joins StatLab most recently from Continental Battery. LeAnn’s skillset and experience in acquisitions will be integral to the culture and care of the StatLab team.

 


Antonio Lizarraga
Vice President, Global Quality and North America Operations

Antonio joined StatLab in 2021, bringing two decades of Quality Management experience across pharma and life science sectors, including Ethicon/Johnson & Johnson, CR Bard/Becton Dickinson, CareFusion/BD and Integra Life Sciences. He has proven leadership in regulatory and compliance activities across product categories and in new market expansion. Most recently Antonio served as Global head of Quality Medical Devices for Guerbert, an international pharmaceutical group.

 


Fabio Insalata
Managing Director

Fabio Insalata joined the executive leadership team as Managing Director of the Knittel Glass business post-acquisition in 2023. Fabio brings decades of experience as CEO of Knittel Glass, located in Germany. Over the last twenty years, Fabio supported and led the Waldemar Knittel brand to its current position as one of the largest manufacturers of microscope slides and coverglass worldwide with a reputation for high-quality German glass. Previous to his role at Knittel, Fabio worked in marketing leadership at Coca-Cola.

 


Lindon Hett
Managing Director

Lindon Hett joined StatLab in 2023 as Managing Director of the StatLab EU business unit, bringing over 25 years of experience with distribution networks and franchising in the automotive industry. Prior to his role with StatLab, Lindon held operational leadership roles at Istobal and MSX Automotive, and worked with numerous automotive brands across the globe. He has a proven track record of creating and executing high-impact management strategies to re-energize and re-focus existing businesses, delivering continued growth.

 

 


Glenn Magnuson
Vice President, OEM Sales

As the Vice President of OEM Sales at StatLab, Glenn Magnuson is responsible for managing all Distributor and OEM partnerships. With a wealth of experience in the diagnostics industry, he has held key executive roles in sales and marketing, spearheading several important product launches, such as the (Hologic) Thin-Prep Imaging System and the FAST PBC Prep at Qvella Corporation. Glenn's impressive leadership career includes Vice President of Diagnostic Sales at Sequenom, Director of Sales, Americas in the Anatomic Pathology division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Senior Director of Marketing at Cytyc.

 


Lance Mikus
Vice President, Marketing and Product Management

Lance comes to StatLab with over 25 years in the life sciences and diagnostics field, having started his career performing immunology research and then moving into industry, taking on multiple product management and marketing leadership roles at Life Technologies (Thermo Fisher) and Leica Biosystems (Danaher Corporation). At Leica, Lance led the product roadmap vision and creation of launch excellence best practices as the Director of Product Management for Digital Pathology Imaging Systems (scanners and software applications), synthesized customer insights into breakthrough product designs resulting in multiple patents, and effectively managed global product teams to execute industry-leading new product launches.  Lance most recently built and operated a successful ecommerce company and is energized by collaborating with colleagues to solve complex customer problems and driving commercial growth. 

 

StatLab Histology Leadership Team


Dan Bickel
Vice President, Product Development

Dan is Vice President of Product Development, and joined StatLab in 1986 when his family first acquired StatLab from the original ownership group. Holding many roles throughout his tenure with the company from sales management to customer service gives Dan deep insight into the function of the business and needs of the customer and market. This experience informs Dan's work with both customers and suppliers to develop new products that bring greater efficiency, higher quality, and cost savings to StatLab customers. Prior to joining StatLab, Dan worked in commercial banking and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelors of Business Administration.


Gary Wiederhold
Vice President, Research and Development

Gary joined StatLab in 2013, bringing over thirty years of extensive anatomical pathology and healthcare experience in various business settings where he managed and contributed in many different areas of discipline including Research and Development, Product Development, Technical Services, and Quality Assurance. He has either developed or co-developed over 600 end-user products for the anatomical and clinical pathology marketplace. Prior to StatLab, Gary spent the bulk of his career with Richard-Allan Scientific/Thermo Fisher Scientific developing consumable products such as stain and reagent systems and assisted with the creation and production of laboratory equipment. Gary holds degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry and is a certified Histotechnologist (HTL). He is an active member on the histology lecture circuit, with topics generally based on the chemical mechanisms involved in histotechnology and other areas of anatomical pathology.


Dr. Neil Haine
Global Vice President, Research and Development

Dr. Neil Haine Ph.D, B.Sc has worked in various commercial roles within the histopathology industry since gaining his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wales, Swansea in 1998. His previous experience includes International Product Management at Thermo Scientific, where he was responsible for labelling and tracking products and consumables in the EMEA and APAC regions, and Leica Biosystems where he managed microscope slides, coverglass, stains and reagent product groups. In his current position as Global Vice President of Research and Development, Neil leads a cross functional team of scientists and engineers based at StatLab's Newtown site developing the next generation of histopathology consumables and instrumentation.


Troy Rutledge 
Vice President, New Product Manufacturing

Troy brings over 25 years of experience in AP Formulation and Operations. He started his career with BBC Biochemical in Sales and Marketing, then transitioned to Distribution and Operations roles over time. Troy became Vice President, fully owning all operations right before StatLab acquired BBC Biochemical in 2020. He now oversees all new product development and manufacturing throughout global StatLab locations. In this role, Troy builds and connects teams, most recently launching injection as a new manufacturing capability in Arlington, TX, and driving efficiency at the Knittel Glass site in Germany. 


Racheal Salas Moore
Lab Services Manager

Racheal Salas Moore, HT(ASCP) QIHC has a diverse background in laboratory services, education, and technical expertise. She received a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the Universtiy of North Texas, and has a range of experience from working in research labs and medical offices to teaching. Racheal brings a unique perspective and a deep understanding of laboratory operations, education, and technical advancements to her role as a Laboratory Services Lead at StatLab. Racheal is a dedicated professional committed to excellence and innovation in the field and has held laboratory roles in IHC, Mohs, Electron Microscopy, Compliance, and Product Support. Racheal demonstrated her commitment to education as a Middle School Science Teacher before returning to Anatomic Pathology.


Dr. Ashraf Imam
Molecular Pathology Director

Dr. Ashraf Imam, M.S., Ph.D., is the Director of Molecular Pathology at StatLab and lead R&D pathologist steering development of the technology powering TruQ Bioengineered Controls. He graduated with a Master’s Degree with honors from Queen’s University in Belfast, UK, and went on to earn a Ph.D. from University of London, completing his fellowship in Pathology and Cancer Biology in the departments of Pathology and Cancer Center at the University of Southern California. His career has focused heavily on breast cancer research with academic appointments in both the UK at Queen’s University and in the US at University of Southern California. Dr. Imam is a respected member of the diagnostic pathology research community, with over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is active on the editorial board of industry journals, a frequent speaker at workshops and industry meetings, and holds numerous patents in diagnostic pathology.


Tom Hughes
Managing Director, Pyramid Innovation

Tom is the Managing Director of all StatLab printing automation and labeling equipment, bringing over 30 years of experience to the role. From his tenure as Managing Director at Raymond A. Lamb Ltd., where he was an instrumental part of the team that invented the first automated cassette printing technology launched in 1991, to his impactful role as Director of R&D Product Development at ThermoFisher, Tom has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovation. Since 2013, Tom as Managing Director of Pyramid Innovation, a StatLab company, has leveraged his wealth of experience and passion to ensure labs have access to the most innovative products and the best quality of patient care.


Colin Brewer
Research & Development, CellPath Archiving

Colin started his career in laboratories in the early 1970’s. Initially in Teratology, followed by Neurological Research into Parkinson's Disease, general histotechnology in a Teaching Hospital, and then Orthopaedic Histology within hospitals. In 2003 Colin joined CellPath and was instrumental in establishing and operating the CellNass storage business which now holds 75% of all of the diagnostic and Post Mortem storage business for blocks and slides in the United Kingdom. He is the Designated Individual (DI) of the Human Tissue Authority, (HTA) ensuring that the Post Mortem material is stored and controlled to the required licence criteria. In addition to supporting CellNass, Colin also is a key member of Research & Development at CellPath.
