Q1:
I have never placed an order with StatLab. How difficult is it to get an
account set up?
A1: The entire process takes about 5 minutes to complete. All that we need to
know is the name of your institution, shipping address, billing address, phone
number, fax number, plus a few other facts in order to update our database. We
will perform a cursory credit evaluation. Most times, the order can be shipped
out on the same day.
Q2: How long does it typically take for an order to be received once that it has
been placed?
A2: It depends upon where your facility is located, but generally speaking, you
should receive your order 2-3 days after the order has been placed. Our policy
is to ship orders out the day received, as long as the order is called in by
2:30 pm CST. Most of our customers receive their shipments with a next day
delivery but in certain areas that timeframe may increase to 2-3 days.
Q3: Does StatLab manufacture its own stains or do you sell the same brand names
that we see from the other national distributors?
A3: Since 1977, Statlab has manufactured its own stains made to our exact
specifications. No other pathology supply company markets these stains which
means that we have a very tight control over quality, consistency, and purity.
Q4: Does StatLab have the ability to customize my products? How expensive is it?
A4: StatLab welcomes any request for personalization or customization. The most
common items available for customization are microscope slides, pap kits,
specimen transport bags, prefilled formalin vials, and prostate biopsy kits.
Cost of customization is the same or slightly higher than the generic product.
On most items there is a reasonable minimum order requirement which can be
taken down over a period of time.
Q5: Does StatLab have a Sales Rep that covers my area? Could I make arrangements
to have someone come by to discuss our product needs?
A5: StatLab has a team of Sales Representatives that cover all 50 states. If
you do not currently have a sales representative please call Customer Service
(800-442-3573) and let them know your name, institution, city and state. You
should then be contacted by someone within 24 hours.
Q6: What services does StatLab provide that can make it easier for our lab to
place purchase orders. It gets confusing dealing with so many vendors and it
seems like we place a multitude of orders every week?
A6: StatLab provides several options to make placing purchase orders an easier
task. First, we recommend that you consider setting up certain items on a
weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly standing order. This would ideally be for your
high volume items such as slides, fixative, alcohols, xylene, cassettes, etc.
The predictable flow of product takes the confusion out of day-to-day shipments
and the receipt of goods into the lab. We are extremely flexible on standing
orders so they can be changed to meet fluctuations in your product utilization.
Also, your sales rep can design a 'custom order' requisition sheet specifically
tailored for your institution. This sheet will itemize all of the products that
you are currently purchasing. When you need to place an order, you simply check
off which items you need (along with quantity needed) and fax the sheet to us.
Your order will be processed immediately for shipment. You may also place
orders on-line. These are processed the day received as well.
Q7: By what methods does Statlab use to ship product?
A7: StatLab has access to several different freight carriers which we utilize
on an everyday basis. Who we use depends on the size of the shipment, ship-to
location, and whether or not there are hazardous chemicals
(flammable/corrosive) involved. Our freight carriers are carefully scrutinized
to insure that the shipments are handled with care and that the customer
receives professional and courteous treatment.
Q8: I have seen the name StatLab for years. Is your company part of a larger
healthcare-related conglomerate or is your focus strictly on Pathology?
A8: No. StatLab has always been a family-owned business since its inception in
1977 and our sole focus is on the pathology marketplace. We have no national
contracts and do not supply any other component of the healthcare market. We
feel that in order to serve our customers best, we need to focus directly on
their needs and problems, while ignoring all of the other facets of the
health-care marketplace.
